According to the agreement signed between Hue University of Sciences and Tottori University in 2009, many exchange activities have been implemented. In March 2012, the delegation of professors and students of Tottori University coordinated with the lecturers and students of the Faculty of Geography and Geology of Hue University of Sciences to do the survey at some research sites in Thua Thien Hue province.
The exchange activities have been appreciated by professors of Tottori University and Hue University of Sciences. Based on the activities’ efficacy, the staff of two universities has proposed the cooperative project on the study on application of participatory WebGIS to “Spatial visualization of community problems” in rural Vietnam with the sponsorship of Japanese Government. This project has been approved.
A meeting which was held at Hue University of Sciences on 2 November 2012 with the participation of Assoc. Prof. TSUTSI Kazumobu from Tottori University, representatives from Hue University, leaders of Hue University of Sciences and Faculty of Geography and Geology. Some issues related to the project were discussed in the meeting such as origin, scope, cost, operational procedures, management, and schedules to conduct the project.
In the near future, the core members and participants of the project will complete the detailed framework and conduct the research soon.
