On April 20, the 11th National Conference on Geography with the theme “Vietnam’s Scientific Geography serving the sustainable development in the Industry revolution 4.0” was held at Hue University.
Attending the conference, there were Mr. Nguyen Dung, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Phung Van Vinh, Standing deputy Head of Office for Propaganda, Provincial Party Committee; Dr. Truong Quy Tung, Vice President of Hue University; Prof. Nguyen Cao Huan, Chairman of Vietnam Geography Association; Prof. Noma Haruo, Chairman of the Human Geographical Society of Japan and a representative of Tottori University; leaders of other provinces; and scientists, lecturers, students and sponsors: Esri Vietnam limited company, Vietnam – Denmark VidaGIS limited company and Survey and Aerial Mapping One Member Limited Liability Company (SAMCOM Co. Ltd).
The 11th national conference on Geography was co-organized by Vietnam Geography Association and Hue University of Sciences. This is one of the important activities in term of science, technology and international relations of Hue University of Sciences this year.
There were 4 sessions: Physical geography, Resources and Environment; Economic and social geography, Humanities and Tourism; Remote sensing, GIS and Technology application; Education and Training of Geography. The conference attracted the attendance of many scientists with about 30 oral presentations. The organizing committee received 367 papers and published 3 journals with the titles mentioned above.
This was the good opportunity for experts, scientists and students of national and international universities to exchange scientific projects, present and discuss the research results, contributing to answer the big questions in Geography as well as to apply the achievements in the socio-economic and cultural development of Vietnam in particular and the world in general in the Industry Revolution 4.0 that is prosperous but challenging.
Addressing at the conference, Prof. Nguyen Cao Huan – Chairman of Vietnam Geography Association said that proceeding the organization of 10 national conferences on Geography since 2000, the11th national conference on Geography organized in Hue City affirmed the role and the contributions of Geography for the nation’s development and assured the training mission and research on Geography in the Industry Revolution 4.0.
Assoc. Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of Hue University of Sciences was pleased when Hue University of Sciences was selected to be the host organizer. This conference would also be the destination for lecturers and geographers in Hue city to meet, discuss ideas and share the teaching experience with the leading geographers in the nation, approaching the collaborative opportunities in research in the future. For young researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, this was the good chance for them to obtain knowledge and new research method and understand the issues scientifically serving the study and research efficiently today and tomorrow.
